God's alarm
We were awaken Friday morning by a nice clap of thunder. I remember laying there and seeing this flash of light (coming through my eyelids) and then the loudest thunder I have ever heard in my life. I know that sounds clichéd, but I have imperical evidence that it may be true (sorry if I'm using the word imperical incorrectly, just sounds cool). We have all, including children, slept through storms at our house and living on top of a hill, we have had some doozies. Moments following this particular boom, I heard the boys coming out of their room. Once I realized the bright light wasn't THE bright light, I jumped out of bed to comfort Truman and Corbin who were shaking and crying. The best evidence of all is the fact that Cozette, our family's mistress of sleep, came out of her room crying as well. Furthermore, your honor, notice exhibit A below. This picture shows what was left of our exterior phone box. The cover was retrieved 45 ft away with a large crack punched in the center.
Amazing alarm clock from Him who controls thunder and lightning. No snoozing, to be sure.

Flower Girl and Best Friend
Cozy was a wonderful flower girl! A little nervous but overall, super! And pretty too! We won't forget her dragging Jay up the isle. Honestly, it has been that way from infancy. They are such good friends and work so well as a team in so many things.
Home at last at 10:30 and tired but still dressed. Had to set up the camera to get a shot of us. And cozy asleep in the car with dad's jacket, how precious!
Silas and Daddy playing Cornhole
Here is Silas learning a new game at the wedding rehearsal for Eric and Jennifer Huggins. He seemed to want to cheat (pretty much what one must do in order to beat Brad in anything) by putting the bags directly into the hole. I need to tell him that you don't get extra points for body parts!

Cozy's 7 year check up
Going back a little bit, Cozy turned 7 this year and had a wonderful time and a big party. Several families from church came over to have pizza and watch Narnia (Lion, Witch, and the Wardrobe) as preparation for Prince Caspian in the theatre. Jay and Benjamin Cook and Co., Sophia, Wyatt, and Isaiah Stuffle and Co., Stephanie Black and Trent Davis all filled the house for the celebration. Good Times, Great Movie!
52 week check up
Well, it has been a while. I'll spare you the dial-up internet jokes and just say we're sorry to disappoint all of our fans. We are back in action and hope you enjoy the new pictures! First, we have Silas enjoying his 1st birthday cake. He did very good not complaining about having to eat what was on his plate.

6 week check up
Well, my 6 weeks of sleeping in, laying on the couch resting, not cleaning, and not cooking are almost up. :-) I figured I'd better get back into the routine of things and thought I'd begin here - catching you up on our new little addition. Here he is over the past 6 weeks:
11 days old:
18 days old:
1 month:
My friends that were all pregnant with me. The order goes from left to right, oldest to youngest, and yes, Silas was the largest!

Enter Silas Parker.
And so he is finally here, to Hannah's great relief. His birth story is interesting and I'll do my best not to embellish too much. It's Tuesday 7/10 and I'm at work, working really hard, oh there I go embellishing already. Anyway, Hannah calls me and asks for me to come home, for she has begun. You see, for her breakfast of champions that morning, she drank a mixture of Baking Soda, OJ, and Castor Oil (I think 10W/30). Yum.
I took the kids to my mom in Louisville on my way to work so the house would be clear and nobody would have to worry about projectile castor soda juice. So, I leave work once I've received the call and head home only to find traffic everywhere. A quick call to Manley (LMPD officer) and I've got the go ahead to drive in the shoulder bypassing all traffic. This goes well until Shelby County Tags 613FEC thinks I'm cheating and blocks me, delaying my ETA (estimated time of arrival for those of you in Rio Linda).
Meanwhile, at home, Hannah is being helped by 8 month pregnant Elizabeth Shearer (many thanks to her). We (Elizabeth's husband, Michael [many thanks to him also for pushing me to go on the shoulder], and I) finally get through traffic (did you like that compound parenthetical statement) and are cruising on our way (or was it more just PATHETICal?). I get home and Hannah is laboring in the warm water pool going according to plan. Exit Shearers (wish I had that one back) and a set of good hands to help. My bad. But why worry, Hannah always takes long, right?
Wrong - 20 minutes later, with the midwife on speakerphone, and a butter knife in my hand, I find myself breaking the water just below the baby's head which is, well, Out. I'm not sure if the head was the 10 ounces or the 9 pounds... Donna, our midwife, then walks us through the process step by step, and by the Lord's hand, it all goes by the book and baby is well and nursing in minutes. Another 20 minutes and Donna shows up to help with the placenta and all other sorts of procedures which I didn't see because I was passed out. Not really, but the whole adventure was a joy to go through with Hannah, Silas, and our great God. Praise be to His name. As of today, Saturday 7/14, baby is doing great and mother is steadily recovering.
